About us
The waterfront location of our Coral Lagoon lodge offers you snorkeling, diving and kayaking right off our doorstep. Accessible only by sea, the lodge is a great place to get away from it all and relax by swinging (or snoozing!) in a hammock on the water’s edge under the shade of the mangrove trees.

You’ll find Coral Lagoon Lodge nestled between the mountainous forests of Henri Pittier National Park’s Caribbean coastline, only 3 hours drive from Caracas airport!

Click the diagram to the right for a larger view of the lodges floor plan.

The coral lagoon’s reefs and its bordering mangroves teem with colorful parrot fish, angel fish, trumpet fish, lobsters, squid and octopus amongst many others, not to mention many types of flourishing hard and particularly soft corals. Taking a kayak and snorkeling gear, you can set out to explore this unique coastal habitat and even catch a glimpse of sea turtles grazing on sea grass in the mornings! For nature lovers there are trails you can explore on foot that venture into totally virgin tropical forest and mangrove swamps where its possible to see puma and jaguar tracks, deer, snakes, scarlet ibis, ospreys, wild pigs, capuchin and howler monkeys, and much more!

Coral Lagoon Lodge offers accommodation in two cabins, with a total of 6 rooms for 2 to 4 people each, with fans and en-suite facilities. Our multilingual host will make you feel at home and delight you with his cooking as well as looking after your every wish. Meals are served under the shade of the mangrove trees, allowing you to contemplate the amazing views of the surrounding mountains and the turquoise waters of the lagoon. Hammocks, deckchairs, kayaks and snorkeling equipment are available for your enjoyment. We operate an open bar offering local drinks where guests just help themselves.

Just a small distance from the lodge are many unique diving sites where the accented coastline hides underwater grottos and canyons. Just 10 minutes by boat are two locally renowned wrecks – the Carmen Fabiana, an impressive 10,000-ton freighter laying at 30 meters, and the Gran Roque, a typical tugboat lying at 18 meters. You also can take a shore dive straight from the lodge or take the dinghy to many other diving sites found close by. We work with PADI and SSI-qualified instructors that offer scuba diving courses and discovery dives by appointment.

Quotes From Our Guests
"Thanks for a wonderful time at la Cienaga and Coral lagoon lodge. The service was excellent and everything from food to company to corals to outings was no less than great. On top of this, you really make an effort to minimize the environmental impact of the tourism in this sensitive area. A long trip from Sweden but definately worth it. Next time I stay longer though... Stay well and keep up the good work!"
Per Jobs - Sweden

"Sunbathing and the snorkeling were excellent we got to see sea horses (really cute), sea cucumbers and zillions of brill fish. It's like swimming through an aquarium!"
John Howard Brighton UK

"The two wrecks we saw were fantastic; it was amazing to explore the engine rooms and holds! The fish and the wildlife have certainly moved in!"
Luca Spinneli. Italy

“It was great to meet you and your friends for the last days of our trip and we were sad that we weren't there to celebrate the New Year with you. (Us Anglo Saxon wasps need to stick together!)

Stef and I had a great holiday at the Eco-Lodges and what a great place to get engaged, the setting, the comfort of the lodges and overall the friendly staff which were perfect hosts for the 10 days that we were there. It was exactly if not more what we were looking for.”

Stef and Katherine – England

"Thank you again for a wonderful trip. My only real complaint is that it was too short! I was just starting to get into the groove. Overall I loved the trip. If I were to redo it I would remove the night in Maracay and just go straight to La Cienaga.

La Cienaga - My favorite thing was the kayaking, so peaceful. The hammock was the best! The bay was so calm and beautiful with wonderful crystal clear water. The snorkeling was incredible. Laying on the raft and letting the gentle waves carry me was heaven."
Silvina Candia – Monterey, California, USA

"The Coral Lagoon is reached only by boat, and it's a breathtaking ride from the harbor to La Cienaga. At the Coral Lagoon Lodge I spent the days relaxing however I chose, with it all less than 10 feet from the Lodge's door. My days were spent swimming, kayaking, floating, and snorkeling in the calm, clear water. There is nothing to arrange, and nothing to stress. I've seen many world class snorkeling destinations, and La Cienaga was one of the best I have seen. You have to do no more than step a couple of feet from your room into the water to enjoy the life that exists underneath. I'm looking forward to going back."
Melinda Caffin – New York, USA

"If you're looking to experience the unspoiled beauty of Venezuela's aquatic life, De La Costa Eco-Lodge is the place to go. A few short steps from anyone of the resort's simple but well maintained guest rooms, lie the warm sparkling waters of the Caribbean. Not far off shore is one of the Caribbean's best preserved coral reefs so first class snorkeling requires no special excursions. De La Costa Eco-Lodge makes one of Venezuela's few remaining natural habitats accessible to eco-minded tourists."
Jen – New York, USA
